So its the IMATS show 2010 at the Pasadena Convention Center. Every year this show goes to different countries. It is the biggest show of the year for make up addicts. This year it was a mad house packed to the brim with everyone from make up artists, to youtube.com guru subscribers, and the gurus themeselves such occcosmetics.com as Jazziebabycakes, Petrilude, Xsparkage, Shrinkle, Pursebuzz, Queenofblending, Kandee Johnson, James Vincent, AllThatGlitters21, and more gurus as well, and even people looking for a good deal on make up, as well as the household make up junkie type artist. I was surprised to see that there wasn't a ticket limitation, you could barely walk. I had the two day wrist band which includes Saturday classes and floor admission, saturday after party admission, and Sunday classes and and floor admission. I will continue with my overview on IMATS as I will attend the Guru Summit at 10:30 am, as well as Kandee Johnson's glaminar, and I hope to get more OCC products, a Mehron palette.
So I will shut my trap and tell you about these cool lips I came up with. Today at IMATS I saw a lot of people with bright color eyes in hot pink, electric blue, and and some intense yellow accents...that was the norm, and then there was a lot of dewy shiny beach looks with no statements. Just dewy skin and mascara, and no lipgloss even. I guess that was the statement?
I knew that a lot of girls would do bright eyes, particularly girls who don't wear bright eyes because it was a special event. That being said I enjoy bright looks...but I wanted to make a statement doing something out of my norm...and I don't mean dewy glowy skin with no gloss...
I did a smokey intense dark/neutral/warm matte eye with winged liner, insane lashes, and shimmer over matte techniques. It was a smokey look out of the box, and intense coral lips...I will do a tutorial on that look later.
Given the fact that the eyes often take precident over special looks, I am getting into lip products more and more...I am rebellious that way...So using a product that I bought at IMATS, I will go over a lip idea for you...
1. First prep and prime the lips. Allow to soak in for 10 minutes and wipe away excess conditioner.
2. Apply Urban Decay's 24/7 in Naked (neutral lip liner) to the lips, just outside the natural line of the lips, and fill in.
3. Using OCC Lip Tar in Hoochie (bright magenta) and dab a little drop onto an applicator and completely pat onto lips. Allow the tar to dry.
4. Using MAC Pearlglide Liner in Designer Purple (sparkley rich violet with gold shimmer) and contour the inner corners of the lips, and lightly fill in the center outline of the lip, and with a small lip brush, feather it in the center bottom lip and fade out going up in a V shape. Fade in all outer corners into the lip so you have a grade of color and not a harsh line. when doing any outlines in the outer lip area, just line right outside the natural lip line like the UD Naked Liner.
5. Using OCC Lip Tar in Feathered (opaque white) and dab very little onto an applicator, blot the applicator, and dab in the center of the lip obove the shading/contouring. This when blended in will act as a higlighter...making lips appear fuller.
6. Using Urban Decay's Lip Liner in Wicked (soft pink) and shade over the MAC Pearlglide Liner in Designer Purple and blend out with the lip brush.
7. Using Lorac's Multiplex 3-D Lipgloss in Cliche (mermaid pink with a green-blue iridescence...reminds me of sequins or fish scales), and gloss over the color once its dried a little, be careful not to smudge the hard work. (Lorac lipglosses--One of my new favorite cosmetics...)
8. Using MAC's Reflects Glitter Pigment in Transparent Teal (pearl pigment with reflects of teal in it), pat over the gloss....
9. Using MAC's Pigment in Kitchmas (frosty soft pink with lavender undertone) and pat over the center of lip...
*Note-Whewwwwww...sorry I know its a long lip look...it includes cosmetic enhances without going under the knife...so the steps were added...When everyone else does eyes...lets go for lipssss...
