So I do a lot of crazier or more editorial tutorials. I just prefer to do more off beat looks that haven't been done before, really. But I do have a nice new everyday type look for those who like a more subdued look, or are looking to update their face routine with some newer or different products.
A lot of wearable lools can get looked over easily because a lot of women can apply make up quite nicely. But in case you are new to make up, or are looking to get into make up and want to know some helpful hints so your parents aren't saying "wipe off your face!" or "your too young?" or the lovely "your eyes look racoon like..." So here is same answers and hints to some age old questions about basic beauty. You simply can't get to the crazy stuff the way you'd like to when you don't know the simple stuff...
Sooooooo on with the look....My best advice is wake up a little earlier than you think you may need to or even want to. It makes all the difference in the world when it comes to your make up, but you can still use your time wisely, my steps make it possible believe it or not.
1. I like to cleanse first before any application. My prepping begins first with removing anything from the face with cleanser and water or at least a makeup remover wipe. I really like the CVS make up remover wipes, they are comparable to PONDS. I like their exfoliating wipes (green package), and the blue package (make up remover and deep cleanser wipes, with texture), and the pink CVS wipes (make up remover and deep cleanser wipes with age defying help and texture), I don't care the CVS basic make up remover wipes, they aren't textured and they aren't deep cleanser wipes. This bag is a blue one also, but the difference between the other blue bagged make up remover wipe that does contain a cleanser as well as make up remover and has the added bonus of texture, is that the make up only remover one has a blue face and a blue bag. The blue one that has the 3 in 1 is a blue bag with white all over the front and the rest of the bag is blue.
2. Now after the cleanser or water has dried I like to prep the face with an oil free lotion. I use the MAC Studio Fix Lotion (it is oil free), but it doesn't matter what you choose. If your stuck consult with a make up counter person, and only purchase from a counter you feel good about purchasing from. I let this sit for a whopping 10 minutes. You can make coffee in this time, eat a bowl of cereal or continue the look. Just don't apply anything to the face after the moisturizer at this point.
3. Now take eyelid primer. I like the Tarte Lifted eyelid primer a lot. This is a translucent base for your lids. I go on the lid, and up to the brow bone with a few strokes of the wand. Not too much, or you'll create a counter effect with the lid primer. The Tarte Lifted is very nice. I like it more than the UD Primer Potion, and it adheres shadows better than the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Thats my opinion. NARS came out with one as well Its OK. The Kat Von D one in Skin is basically like concealor in my opinion. I also heard Palladio from Sally's Beauty Supply has one, NYX came out with one, and so did Loreal Hip. You can also dab your base under the eye, tear duct, outer corner where a wing may be.
4. Now take lip conditioner. I like the MAC lip conditioner in a stick, or the tube, I hate balm. Nivea Rejuvenate Q10 is fantastic, but Chapstick or Bonne Belle will work too. I let this set into my lips until the end of the make up time when I apply my liners and lip prodcuts. This allows for perfect lips that aren't dry or chapped ever. I also like to do this before bed. You'll wake up with wonderful lips.
2. Apply MAC's Nude Cream Base, Painterly Paint Pot, or any skin tone base to the lid, and tap a little on the lid, only, and stay below the crease.
3. Now take an eyeshadow that is a nude type of color I like MAC's Orb, Tissueweight (Pret A Papier), Sand & Sun (MAC To The Beach), or UD in ABC Gum or Foxy. Pat this color onto the lid only with a flat shader brush to set the nude base. This will neutralize the lid and make it appear as if you are not stressed out or tired because it will look like your natural lid without veins for the most part.
4. Now take MAC's Naked pigment or MAC's Naked Lunch eyeshadow (frosty pinky biege) and the MAC 217 and apply it into the crease, and up to the brow bone.
5. Using the MAC 217 again, take MAC's Crystal Avalanche (shimmery white) and apply it into the center of the lid and the tear duct. This will make your eyes pop and look even more awake.
6. Using Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in Yeyo (shimmery white) apply it onto the water line for that doe eyed look.
7. Set the waterline with MAC's Crystal Avalanche eyeshadow so that it doens't budge ever, so your not reapplying as your eyes water throughout the day naturally.
8. Now take Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in Gunmetal (shimmery dark grey) and apply it to the lower lashline.
9. Using MAC's Feline or Smolder Kohl Power liner (black liners) apply to the upper lash line. Pull the lashline taught, and taking small even strokes, apply to the upper lash line for depth. Don't male the line too thick. It should serve to just define and make lashes appear darker and denser.
10. Using MAC's eyeshadow in Knight Divine (shimmery dark grey) and the MAC 219, go under the lash line and smudge out UD 24/7 liner in Gunmetal. This will also set it.
11. Using the same eyeshadow Knight Divine and the MAC 219 do the same to the upper lashline.
12. Using your favorite mascara define lashes. Start at the base of the lashes, and wiggle your way up, get very lash, and don't pump the wand. This only causes bacteria and more air to get into the tube, and it shortens the lifespan of the mascara and dries it up.
13. Hold the mascara wand vertical and do the same for the lower lashes.
14. Use your favorite blush. I like MAC's Pinch O Peach, its a yellow based pink, its neither too pink or too peach, its just right, if your really fair, and justg want a hint of color I like Well Dressed, or Tenderling, or if you need color in your face I like Desert Rose or Posey Blushcreme, if your medium like me I like Pinch O Peach, Peaches, or Cantaloupe, or Ripe Peach Blush Ombre, If your darker but not too deep, I like Pinch Me or Style or Mocha, or if your deep but not the deepest, I like Raizin, Vintage Grape Blush Ombre, Dirty Plum, or Burnt Pepper. If your very very dark I like the crazier blushes for you, I like radiant violets, I like too see Azalea, I like Devil, and Frankly Scarlet. These are all MAC colors.
15. Now apply MAC's lip pencil in Stripdown, Spice, or Hodge Podge. All will work. Those are just warm soft brown nudes. Fill in lips and line and contour. Now take a dab a pea sized amount of Hush for both lips. Hush is the "bridal color" by OCC. Just a nice wearable bright nudey pink. These taste a little minty, but not over kill. I put a little bit of MAC's Easy Lounger (MAC To The Beach) on top for some shine once the OCC Lip Tar dried a little.
