Tim Burton's movie is now available on video and for rent. Due to that fact, I wanted to make the Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Book Of Shadows the featurette.
I wanted to do a very topsy turvy look-one that was A-typical of my own character. Due to the fact that I am known for colorful fun eyes with sometimes smokey effects in the crease or outer corners, I wanted to do a more dark look, since Tim Burton's films are always filled to the brim with dark undertones, and this film is no exception. The film features Tim Burton's actor of choice Johnny Depp, and the lovely and unique Anne Hathaway, not to mention piles of great actors throughout the film.
I have talked about this particular book of shadows in my other blogs, and its been available for some time, but I don't think I ever made it the topic of the blog.
A look that is A-typical of my own is a glamour chic look with dark colors. This look is gorgeous and makes you feel gorgeous, yet dark. A perfect night look. You could make it a day look if you wanted by choosing softer hues, but it wouldn't be the same, sorry...
1. Prep the face with moisturizer, eyelid primer, and lip conditioner. Allow moisturizer and lip conditioner to soak in for at least ten minutes.
2. Apply MAC Paint Pot in Artifact (burnt burgundy) to the lid, and into crease. Apply a couple coats. This will help add a warm effect to the colors on the lid.
3. Using the MAC 239 (flat paddle shader brush) pat Mad Hatter eyeshadow (Twice Baked) all over the lid and into the crease.
4. Using the MAC 217 apply Muchness eyeshadow (X) into the crease using windshield wiper motions to blend the color in. Start at the outer corner and work into the front of the crease.
5. Using the MAC 217 brush and Jabberwocky eyeshadow (Oil Slick) apply the color into the outer corner, and blend inward, and up a little ways. Pull the color outward past the natural eye shape into an outer < shape a bit to create a sultry Arabian inspired shape. Whatever color is remaining on the brush pat delicately with the 217 into the inner corner, but avoid the inner tear duct.
6. Pick up a little bit of Curiouser eyeshadow (Grifter) on the 217 and pat into the center of lid for a bit of a highlight.
7. If any of the Mad Hatter color was lost in the process, especially the crease, pat delicately on the lid and gently apply in the crease.
8. If needed pick up the 224 blender brush by MAC with no product on it, and blend out the crease so its not harsh.
9. Using the MAC 227 (amazing blender) and pick up equal parts of the three colors: Chessur (Chopper), Muchness (X), Drink Me, Eat Me (Sin) and apply to the brow bone, and blend downward so it reduces the harshes of the crease or height of the crease, gently.
10. Take a little of the White Rabbit eyeshadow (Polyester Bride) and apply to the outer brow bone only.
11. Using MAC Feline Eye Kohl (jet carbon black) and apply to the waterline.
12. Using the MAC 219 pencil dome brush apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Mad Hatter to the lower lash line. Using the 219 and Jabberwocky eyeshadow (Oil Slick) apply the color to the outer lower lash line only.
13. Using MAC's Black Track Fluidline with the MAC 266, apply into an upward winged out shape.
14. Apply mascara. Using Ardell's 101 demi lashes in black apply with Duo Lash Glue to the upper lashes, get them as close to the lash line as possible.
15. Reapply the Black Track to cover the lash band.
16. Set the gel liner with Jabberwocky eyeshadow (Oil Slick).
14. Apply foundation, and setting powder.
15. Apply MAC's Dollymix blush ( hot pink sheertone shimmer blush) with the MAC 168 (goat haired angled blush brush). Contour the cheeks with it.
16. Gently contour under the blush line with MAC's bronzer/contour powder in Blunt (matte warm brown).
17. Contour face where else is needed follow map of face. To contour means to define cheek bones and recede other features such as hairline and nose width. I also contour under my lip so that it makes my bottom lip look larger.
18. Apply MAC's lip pencil in Life's A Breeze (true yellow pink-MAC To The Beach), contour lips.
19. Apply MAC's Viva Glam in Lady Gaga lipstick (bright soft yellow pink-lustre finish).
20. Apply MAC's lipglass in Easy Lounger (soft baby yellow pink with universal pearl-MAC To The Beach).
NOTE: This is such a cool trick. Take your kabuki brush, and MAC's Fix Plus. Spray the Fix Plus onto the tips of the brush hairs. Shake of the brush. Start at the hairline, and smooth the product gently all over the face powders, sort of contouring the face with the kabuki. This transforms the powders of the face make up slowly and gently (so there is no drip and spray pour down the face). It practically gives it an airbrush finish as it sets it. None of my blushes have appeared to drag, and I am getting so many complements on my face make up.
