I like to feature products a lot when creating looks so the blogs I make tend to involve not only a review on a product I think people are intrigued by, but also a look...
I also wear a lot of violets to shows and workshops...they catch peoples eyes, and even though I typically gravitate towards prime Disney looks and greens and blues, I guess I am a bit of a different person at 5:00 am before an event...
This look doesn't involve any products I purchased at IMATS 2010 oddly enough, but Make Up Forever was sold there, some some people did pick up Make Up Forever. The booth was 40% off...how lovely...wish I had the patience to stand in line for up to 3 hours....but it came down to this...I would pay to get out of line....so what was the point? LOL...the only thing I thought was worth standing in line for at Make Up Forever was the Holy Grail of cream shadow collections: the famous Flash Palette which regularly retails for the omg price tag of $95.00...It retailed for $57.00 at IMATS...talk abotu a deal...next year I am going to run there right away...but it was too underway by midday when I made it over there...I would have also loved the new Lablight Lipglosses one was a coral and I also wanted a Barbie pink and the Gwen lashes by MUFE, because the lashes were only ten, and so was the lipgloss...and I would have loved the teal and the emerald green Aqua Cream shadow...oh, and the Ben Nye Lumiere Palette gorgeous...had to walk away...:(...but thats a plan for next year...I did get a discount on the lovely #134 from MAC...yummmm---yyyyyyyyy.yy..yyy...
So about the Aqua Creams...anyone ever purchase a Paint Pot from MAC that had a lot of frost in it?? Thats what these reminded me of...a frosty Paint Pot...I was sort of hoping for a more opaque matte finish. I bought the #18 which was the soft lavender. I bought this one because I just don't have anything like this one...there don't even seem to be any lavender bases anywhere....I have had this idea in my head to use a lavender base and MAC's Purple Duo Reflects Glitter forever and a day, but I was unable to finish the purchasing for the idea...until now...when I swatched the Aqua Cream #18 Lilac I don't remember the frost or the lack of opacity...so I was worried when I applied it to my lid...I figured the staying power would be creasey...and the first time it touched my lids was IMATS 2010 June 27 Sunday...I thought I'd have a mess on my hands...
So on with the look...and the turnout of this product...
1. Prep and prime your face. While it soaks for ten minutes apply lip conditioner and lid primer. For my lids I have been using Tarte Lifted Eyelid Primer I got with my perk rewards at Sephora from the Beauty Insider Card (sign up its free, really, someone made me a member for my bday and I love it). I love this primer makes blending a breeze..and I will be buying a full size when I am out...I like it more than the NARS, or the Urban Decay lid primers....
2. Conceal any blemishes...
3. Now for the fun part: apply MUFE Aqua Cream Shadow in #18...Avoid patting it in the crease...it doesnt really dry down.
4. Apply Make Up Forever's #9 Lavender matte eyeshadow to the lid with the 239 paddle shader brush, and cover all of the cream shadow areas...
5. Using Make Up Forever's famous #92 vibrant dark purple matte eyeshadow apply into outer corner of the eye with the 217 placement and blender brush for a dark smokey outer corner...whatever is left on the brush use that product to apply the inner corner for a dimensional smokey eye.
6. Using Urban Decay's eyeshadow in Pervursion (matte black) and the 219 pencil dome brush apply it using the outer < shape method. Pick up the 217 and with a little bit of this color (teensy bit) blend it out a bit so there are no harsh drawn < shapes... This technique will wing out the eye a bit and help it appear sultry.
7. Using Urban Decay's eyeshadow in Crash (shimmer lavender) apply into the center of the lid so the eye isn't to dark and closed off...
8. Using MAC's pigment in Bold & Brash (bright red with cherry pink undertone) and the MAC 219 dome brush spray the product while its on the brush with a dab of Fix Plus...
9. Using the cutting the crease method, draw a line in the crease of the lids. Use the shape you want....Draw it at the border of the lavenders and smokey parts so it connects...this was sort of my personal touch to this violet smokey look...It's okay if the line is a little thicker...you don't want it to be too fine... It'll damage the blended out look of the smokey and sultry eye.
10. Using MAC's eyeshadow in Pink Venus (babydoll pink with silver shimmer-lustre finish) and a blender brush like the MAC 224 or 217 blend out and over the cut crease to soften the harshness....
11. Using Urban Decay's eyeshadow in ABC Gum or Foxy (matte peachy skintone colors) and apply to brow bonewith the MAC 227 blender brush (eraser or highlight brush as they call it). Shade into the cut crease...
12. Using MAC's eyeshadow in Gesso (basic matte white) and the 227 again and apply into the outer brow bone...Pat down over the outer area of the cut crease.
13. Using MAC's Feline Kohl Power Pencil Liner apply to waterline. Using MAC's Pearlglide in Designer Purple (gold shimmery violet liner) and apply to lower lashline, and smudge out with MAC's Black Tied (shimmery black shadow) in the outer corner using the 219. Connect this winged eye to the outer corner of the sultry eye that you created coming up from underneath...Using MUFE #92 dark violet smudge out the more inner portion.
14. Using a soft shimmery pink pencil (if you have one, white will do) and fill in the inner tear duct for an inner corner highlight...
15. Using MAC's Pink Venus once again, go over it and soften it...
16. Using MAC's Black Track Fluid Line and the MAC 266 line the upperlash line, and start in the outer part...go up a bit with a bit of a thicker line. Wing it out a bit with a thin small wing out the side...stay within the eyeshadow zone...and then dab inward, this line is slimmer, and connect for a seamless look.
16. Apply a pair of black lashes that are a little pointy...use MAC's #7's for reference...you don't need to buy those...I didn't honestly...I wore $1.00 lashes...
17. Apply MAC's Black Track Fluid Liner to hide the band...
18. Set with black eyeshadow.
19. Apply foundation and setting powder.
20. Using Lorac's blush in Exposed (true pinky peach) baked satin blush to the cheekbones, and contour with it...this helps add warmth to the look.
21. Use a gold highlighter the nose bridge and upper cheek bones...and apply bronzer.
22. Use Urban Decay's Lip Crayon 24/7 in Wicked (light bright pink). Using OCC Lip Tar in Hush apply to lips...and dab OCC Lip Tar in Feathered (basic white) to the center...
23. Apply MAC's Lipglass in Easy Lounger (MAC To The Beach-babypink with universal reflects shimmer) to the lips...
