I went to IMATS 2010 this year. I'v talked about it in three or four different blogs by now...I talked about Day 2's look, but didn't talk about what I wore on day 1.
So that morning I don't know what came over me, but I wanted to wear an insanely gorgeous smokey eye look...Smokey shmokey, how many of those looks exist?? But I had a fresh idea in my mind...not only that but it was going to involve a gradient of neutral shadows...so not me!! I love color....
Soooo on with a the look.
1. Prep and prime face. Allow it to soak for ten minutes. Apply lip conditioner. Allow it to soak until you reach the end of your make up application. Apply primer to the lid. I've been liking the Tarte Lifted Eyelid Primer a lot...
2. Using MAC's Cream Color Base in Shell (biege with shimmer) I applied it to the lid...
3. Pat MAC Reflects Pearl Pigment (universal pigment) over the top of the base, but only right before the center of the lid. Pat a little of the Shell Cream Color Base above where you applied the glitter and pat the Pearl Pigment right over the top of that.
4. Using MAC's Naked (frosted biege) pigment and the MAC 239 shader paddle brush pat over the Shell Cream Color Base on the lid. The Naked Pigment is only gently frosted. So the effect you'll see is a bit of a matte over shimmer (from the Shell Cream Base). As your make up settles and ages you'll get the Naked Pigment settling into the Shell Cream color Base and the Shimmer will come forward creating a matte with a shimmer on top. MAC doesn't make a pigment like that...however Sugarpill will be releasing a line of cosmetics with this finish on some of their shadows...can't wait to see those shadows Shrinkle (Amy) created.
5. Next take MAC's 217 and MAC's eyeshadow in Modellete (Warm & Cozy Collection-satin finish-soft midtone brown) and apply on the outer lid and half way in only. Also Pull this color all the way into the crease.
6. Next take MAC's eyeshadow in Mulled Cider (Warm & Cozy Collection-satin finish-midtone brown) and apply to the outer corner with the MAC 224 and pull in about a little less than 1/2 the way. Also pull this color 1/2 way into the crease.
7. Next take MAC's eyeshadow in Embark (Permanent and Warm & Cozy-matte finish deepened warm brown) and apply into the outer corner 1/4 of the way....The trick with this one is the brush....Take the 219, and draw a sultry < in the outer corner, this will elongate the eye, and make it appear exotic and sultry...Take the 217 and gently blend inward so the color pulls into the outer corner 1/4 of the way, just slightly overlapping the Mulled Cider, and fading into it...Also Pull this color 1/4 of the way into the crease.
8. Next take MAC's eyeshadow in Black Tied (shimmery black) and draw in the outer < shape, going right over the old line. Using the residue from the brush 217 pull in the outer corner color...This color will remain in the outer < only.
9. Take the MAC 224 and Modelette eyeshadow again, and apply a gentle amount into the inner corner for a duo smokey eye effect.
10. Clean up any corners if need be.
11. Using MAC's Chromographic pencil in NW15/NC20, and fill in the water line.
12. Take MAC's BlackTrack Fluidline and the MAC 266 brush apply to the upper lash line, and flick out into a wing in the end.
13. Apply a bit of Black Tied Shadow over it to set it.
14. Using Ardell's lashes in 111 (long black fairy lashes) and apply to the upperlash line...MAC's #2's look like these for reference...
15. Using the Fluidline apply over the band to hide it...then take the Black Tied eyeshadow and reset it...
16. Using MAC's Mulled Cider eyeshadow and the MAC 219 and line the lower lash line...
17. Use MAC's Embark eyeshadow and line with the 219 in only the outer corner of the lash line...
18. With the final eye touches and MAC's 227 paddle brush and Urban Decay's ABC Gum or Foxy, or Naked or any matte neutral eyeshadow apply to brow bone and blend done barely overlapping the crease...
19. Take that same paddle brush and take MAC's Gesso eyeshadow (matte white) and apply to outer brow bone overlapping the ABC Gum or whatever neutral chosen...
20. Use your foundation and setting powder.
21. With the MAC 168 contour angle blush brush and MAC's blush in Peaches (peach-satin finish) apply to cheekbones.
22. Using MAC's Comfort MSF (Warm & Cozy-bronzer with gold veining) and apply with a bronzer brush or kabuki doing the E 3 method...
23. Using a gold highlighter, highlight as wanted or needed for a warm glow that makes you look sort of tan as well...
24. Using MAC's Lip Pencil in Beet line the lips and fill them in...take MAC's Morange lipstick and fill in...
