Hope you enjoy my blog!
So this is a really cool idea. When I first started playing with the MAC Reflects Pigments I wasn't sold on them. I first saw them on Youtube of course, and got my first one when I purchased the Haute High Jinks Warm Pigment set from MAC which came out in the December '09 Magic, Mirth, and Mischief collection. It is a permanent in regular size at MAC Pro Stores. When I first saw this in the set it caught my attention. When I read all the names of the items I noticed it wasn't a standard pigment. The set called it a glitter. As much as I love editorial looks I can live without glitter. I played with it and played with it, and constantly found it down my face. it never adhered. I always had to use a smidgen of lash glue for staying power, but the glue wrecked all my eye make up work I felt.
So I was still captivated, because of its quality. Finely milled glitter pigment, and even bought the Cool Capers set which featured Reflects Teal. I think I was still interested because of the Dazzleglasses I love soooo much.
It wasn't until recently when I was in a MAC Pro Store and the make up artist saw me looking at glitter pigments. She walks over and says to me I love Reflects Transparent Gold over Rubenesque Paint Pot, so simple and you have your look. I was like omg, shes right...These don't have to be made complicated...it was like adding 1 and 1. She swatches Luna Cream Base and Reflects Pearl Pigment on her hand and shows me another combo...omg shes right!! Simple and such a quick look, and your already fabulous, and not over done at all....
I purchased some Reflects pigments that day, and I already owned Rubenesque Paint Pot, and Reflects Gold. I couldn't wait to play...
So I came up with a look featuring that simple but amazing cream base with Reflects pigment and MAC's Superglass in Gift Wrap (light peachy pink). I was most excited about this superglass. I have a lot of coral lipsticks, and liners, and Full Of Flare Lipstain Marker, as well as Tomorrow's Coral Lipstain Marker from MAC Art Supplies. So I wanted Gift Wrap Superglass naturally.
Sooooo I will stop rambling and move on.
1. Moisturize the face. Let it soak for ten.
2. Prep the lips and apply an eyeshadow base like Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer in Skin, and NARS also makes one now, and I think Tarte does as well.
3. Using MAC's Rubenesque Paint Pot (peachy gold-frost) apply to the lid.
4. Using MAC's Reflects Gold Pigment apply over Rubenesque as you would an eyeshadow. Apply while the paint pot is still tacky.
5. Using MAC's eyehshadow in Amber Lights (amber golden color) to the outer crease with the MAC 224, and blend inward.
6. Using MAC's Kohl Power Liner in Teddy apply to the waterline, and upper eyelid.
7. Using a black mascara define the lashes, and then pull them out to the sides.
8. Using MAC's eyeshadow in Embark (deep reddish brown) and an angled pencil brush apply under the eye 3/4" of the way in as an eyeliner. Smudge out.
9. Using a dewy skin lotion like MAC's Strobe Liquid apply to cheek bones.
10. Let it soak for a few minutes.
11. Apply foundation.
12. Using MAC's blush in Peaches (pure peach-sheertone) apply to cheeks.
13. Using a bronzer, and the 3/E technique softly contour the face and warm it up.
14. Using MAC's Silver Dusk Iridescent Loose Powder apply to cheekbones and nose bridge with a fan tail brush, and a light hand.
15. Using MAC's Lip Pencil in Beet (pinkish reddish coral) contour and line the outer edges of the lips, fill in the corners, and fade in with the 316 lip brush.
16. Using Make Up Forever's Aqua Lip Pencil in 17C (Tangerine) apply to the lips filling in the centers, and anywhere Beet didn't go. Blend with the 316 lip brush.
17. Using MAC's Creamstick Liner in Red Enriched (true red) apply to the outer areas, and line for super definition. Blend.
18. Using MAC's Impassioned lipstick (amped up fuschia-amplified cream finish) apply to the lips.
19. Using MAC's Superglass in Gift Wrap apply as a top coating. Now you have an amped up coral-pink-fuschia three dimensional amazing lip.
20. Spray setting spray.
