Ladies of Disney: Their Make Up: The Little Mermaid

Hope you enjoy my blog!
I'm gonna start off with one of my favorite Ladies of Disney The Little Mermaid, Ariel. Most tutorials involving make up for Ariel involve an ocean inspired make up look. If I was doing an ocean inspired look, then I wouldn't include Ariel. It would probably be a Hawaiin inspired tutorial. If this was inspired by what she wore (clothing) wise you'd be stuck with a violet shell bra only, seeing as how her vibrant green fin is not clothing.

This look is not gonna be an inspired look, its gonna be how to get Ariel's make up & face. Her actual face, it also involves some cosmetic surgery type make up tips, and how to look more doe eyed, or doll eyed. This look is a beauty look, and not over the top costumey in the least. So very wearable.

So on with the tutorial. If you are super fair, and have red hair this make up look will definitely be up your alley!

1. Moisturize the face. Ive been using MAC Studio Fix Moisturizer, and haven't been having any problems. My skin is clearer. Let it soak into your skin for ten minutes at least.

2. While your face is soaking apply Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I think I have a locked down way of applying it so my eyes don't tear at this point. Try to focus on the center of the lid and above, and avoid the tear ducts.

3. Apply MAC Bare Study Paint Pot (soft biege with gold pearl) to the lid with your fingertips. No darker, Ariel was very fair.

4. Apply MAC Pearl (pearl) Cream Base to the brow bone as a highlight.

5. Apply MAC eyeshadow in Crystal Avalanche (white with reflects-veluxe pearl) over the Pearl Cream Base.

6. Apply MAC eyeshadow in Naked Lunch (minimal pink with shimmer) to the lid over Bare Study Paint Pot, and apply into the crease.

7. Apply more of MAC Crystal Avalanche and shade it down into the crease. I like to use the MAC 227 (fat highlighter brush-$30.00) to do this work.

8. Using Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner crayon in Baked (golden brown) apply to lower waterline.

9. Using MAC eyeshadow in Modelette (Warm & Cozy Collection soft brown-satin) apply to lower line under lashes with the MAC 217 (shader) or 219 (pencil-dome) brush.

10. Using Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Pervursion (black) draw a thin round line on upper eyelid.

11. Apply Mr. Winks eyelashes in #305 (feathered wispy black lashes-not like Andrea's Modlash in #305, much more like Ardell's Wispies) with clear glue. Let glue become tacky before applying. Ariel's eyelashes stood up and didn't wing out to the side like Sleeping Beauty's.

12. Apply MAC Prep & Prime skin. I can't wit to get this I have a sample of it currently. It contains spf50, and glides on, and doesn't over moisturize like a mineral make up primer would. It also doesn't make make up appear too thick. I love it right now.

13. My new fave foundation, apply MAC Studio Fix Sculpt (I have used NC20, and NC30) Ive gotten matched by two different ladies. NC30 I thought worked, there was no line of demarcation, but it is a bit yellow. Another lady at MAC (I love her, she is my counter girl, by far at Nordy's) said I was NC20, she could tell through my bronzer. Wow! Thats talent. It's a slightly nuder foundation. NC30 is not a lot darker. I use my MAC 168SH for my foundation, and just stipple it on! Use a pea size amount for each side of face, dot it on in the imperfect or redder areas, and stipple it in, its great.

14. Apply MAC Cremeblend blush in Florida (MAC in Lillyland Collection bright clean fuschia pink) using the MAC 168SH or regular MAC 168 (SH stands for short handle, or holiday brush kit size). Start by stippling the brush in the pot, and then blend on starting on the apples of the cheeks. Ariel had very rosey pretty cheeks, and there is a body of water and a Disney World in Florida so its fitting.

15. Press MAC Strobe Liquid (lighter weight version of Strobe Cream-better for oilier skin) on to cheekbones and cupids bow for highlight.

16. Apply transclucent powder onto the face to set the creamy make up (that I am sooooo into right now). By using a transclucent powder you aren't taking away from the color in the MAC Cremeblend blush in Florida. You Can take a bit of MAC in Blunt (matte bronzer) and shade face to create a more oval look by receding harsh angles. To do this make a capital E on either side of face a few times with a kabuki brush, forehead, cheekbone, jaw, etc. A few light strokes.

17. Apply Urban Decay 24/7 lip crayon in Naked (naked true lip color pink) to the lips and fill in all the way.

18. Apply MAC lipstick in Sophisto (dewey plum rose-lustre finish with gold pearl-looks like a dupe for the discontinued Fafi collection lipstick called Straw Baby-that one had rainbow pearl, though, yummy).

19. Apply MAC Dazzleglass Creme in Lustrous Spark (light orange with gold pearl) for a finishing touch and you have Ariel's glossy reddish coral lip stain look.
